CEs and PD credits available

The hardwiring of trust, connection, and recovery systems like oxytocin and dopamine is millions of years in the making. Some stale, timeworn leadership training has drained concepts like authenticity and resilience of their power and meaning. This new, dynamic Neuroscience of Leadership curriculum will deliver a science-backed, human-centered, and accessible structure to reclaim core, powerful coaching concepts by showing participants how ancient neurobiological systems define their function.

In this 6-hour, remote workshop, William James College Leadership Psychology Program Faculty Member and neuroscience-informed researcher

Dr. Kymberlee O'Brien will offer a clear and compelling introduction to the four essential brain systems that shape key human behaviors in leadership. Using her STAT model—Stress, Threat, Authenticity, and Trust—Dr. O'Brien will translate complex neuroscience into coherent, accessible insights which leaders can implement to achieve meaningful outcomes.

The workshop will be presented in succinct, visually-engaging learning components covering each of the four systems: the HPA axis, amygdala, oxytocin, and dopamine pathways. Participants will learn to consider these systems within the context of the biomarkers of authenticity, resilience, and psychological safety. The dynamic presentation format will render the invisible workings of the brain comprehensible by integrating visual points of reference into teachings and by promoting comprehension and practical application of complex neuroscience concepts by omitting overwhelming jargon.

The session will also preview Dr. O’Brien’s upcoming Neuroscience of Leadership Certificate Program, where participants can build a robust foundation for brain-based leadership by expanding their study of advanced brain systems, including the prefrontal cortex, insula, mirror neuron system, and default mode network.

Neuroscience for Leaders isn’t rocket science—it’s relationship science! Please join us to learn how Dr. O'Brien's application of neuroscience to leadership training promotes emotional clarity, connection, and confidence!
